Evaluation of the reduction of seismic loads effect in tall buildings through their geometric configuration in plan

Abstract The research aimed to evaluate the effect of seismic loads on tall buildings through four geometric shapes: square, circle, equilateral triangle, and regular hexagon, around X Y axis, in three evaluation stages structural regularity condition system adopted verification phases regarding story drift limit according E.030 Peruvian standard. Among figures studied, square one allowed greatest reduction (W 4296.8270 ton, T fundamental 1.077 s, most decoupled main matrix, I p 1 Y, DI ≈ SF ), triangular originated critical irregularity (I 0.75), circular provided lateral stiffness (DI 0.00512 - 0.00508) hexagonal presented highest effective stability (SF 5.318 4.749) when using walls (R o 6).
